Sharon is Our Hometown
Sharon was established as the 2nd Precinct of Stoughton in 1740. It was incorporated as the Town of Stoughtonham in 1765 and named Sharon in 1783. In front of the Sharon Public Library stands a statue of Deborah Sampson, Sharon's town heroine. Sampson disguised herself as a man to fight in the Revolutionary War. This New England town, in Norfolk County, is a busy commuter town with local enterprises, restaurants, artists, and professionals residing in a community known for its beauty and diversity. Lake Massapoag in Sharon is a popular place for holding concerts and fireworks, with recreational fishing and good swimming on Memorial Beach.
